Benjamin Daniel Copeland

Prior to playing professionally, he attended Bradford High School and University of Pittsburgh. With the University of Pittsburgh in 2003, he hit .303 with 17 stolen bases in 52 games. He hit .332 with 37 stolen bases in 2004 with them, and in 2005 he hit .284 with nine home runs and 29 stolen bases.

Copeland was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the fourth round of the 2005 amateur draft. He began his professional career that year, playing for the AZL Giants and Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, hitting a combined .315 with nine doubles, six triples and five home runs in 47 games. With the Augusta Greenjackets in 2006, he hit .281 with 30 stolen bases and 12 triples in 135 games, and with the San Jose Giants in 2007, he hit .280 with 14 stolen bases in 106 games. He split the 2008 season between the Connecticut Defenders and Fresno Grizzlies, hitting a combined .276 with 24 stolen bases and 13 triples in 125 games. He began the 2009 season with the Stockton Ports.
