Ben Ellis played four games for the 1896 Philadelphia Phillies. In the minors, he played in New York, Pennsylvania, and in New England. He managed the Schenectady Frog Alleys to the 1903 New York State League title then guided the Schenectady Electricians for the early part of 1904.
Ellis was born in New York City in 1870. Ben played a number of years in the Pennsylvania State League before coming to the majors.

Ben Ellis has been with him all of this time, and the two intend to remain there until ordered to report.
