After his playing career, Barry McCormick was an umpire in the Federal League (1914-1915) and National League (1919-1928). He was the home plate umpire for the famous game on May 1, 1920 in which Joe Oeschger of the Boston Braves and Leon Cadore of the Brooklyn Robins battled for 26 innings; McCormick called the game a 1-1 tie as dusk was falling at 6:50 pm.
