Brother of Roberto Ortiz, Oliverio "Baby" Ortiz was four inches shorter than his brother in spite of being a full six feet tall.
Like his brother, Oliverio also played in Cuba, where he was a star, and for Chattanooga.
Oliverio appeared with the 1944 Washington Senators, where his brother was a teammate. Oliverio was the same age as a another pitcher on the team, Early Wynn.
