B.J. Rosenberg made his minor league debut in 2008.

Rosenberg hit .368 in high school and went 18-11 with 3 saves and 213 strikeouts. As a college freshman, he was only 2-5 with a 7.18 ERA, allowing 113 hits in 77 2/3 IP. In 2005, the sophomore improved to 5-4, 4.98 as the club ace. During his junior year, Rosenberg went 6-5 with a 4.72 ERA, moving into second in school history with 42 career starts. The Virginian sat out 2007 with an injury.

As a redshirt senior, B.J. was 5-5 with 9 saves and a 4.80 ERA with 62 K in 54 1/3 IP. He made third-team All-Big East Conference. He finished his college career first all-time in Louisville history in starts (47), 3rd in innings (306 2/3), 6th in strikeouts (187), tied for 3rd in wins (18) and tied for 7th in saves.

B.J. was picked by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 13th round of the 2008 amateur draft. He had a strong pro debut with the Williamsport Crosscutters, going 3-1 with 10 saves and a 1.00 ERA in 21 games. He fanned 52 in 36 innings. He tied for fifth in the New York-Penn League in ERA.

In 2009, Rosenberg got off to an excellent start with the Lakewood BlueClaws, going 7-2 with 19 saves and a 0.89 ERA in 37 games. In 50 1/3 innings, he did not give up a home run, struck out 65 and allowed just 37 hits and 10 walks. He was promoted to the AA Reading Phillies and then put on Team USA's roster for the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
