Austin Peay competed as a two-year school in the Volunteer State Athletic Association from 1948 to 1962, before moving up to four-year competition in 1963. Overall the school has sponsored baseball in 1931-1939, 1948-1951, and 1953 to the present. It was previously known as the Southwestern Presbyterian College.
