The son of Aurelio Rodríguez and nephew of Chico Rodríguez, Aurelio Rodríguez Jr. played for two years in the Mexican League. A second baseman, he hit .200/~.222/.214 in 26 games in 1998 for the Olmecas de Tabasco and a year later batted .224/~.274/.241 in 21 contests. Overall his .211 average indicated he would not have as long or prosperous a career as his father or uncle.
