Art Lopez appeared in 38 games with the 1965 New York Yankees. He was also on the Toledo Mud Hens in 1965-66. He later played successfully for years in Japan.
He was born in Puerto Rico in the same year that Orlando Cepeda was born there. He grew up in New York, and in his remembrances he recalls that he was in the Navy from 1954-58 and then was working in a bank when he got a chance for a tryout with the Yankees. He also played on the Nicaragua team in 1963 and the Dominican team in 1964 which won the Latin American Series.
