[edit] Biographical Information

Art Daney, a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, had a "Moonlight Graham"-type career in the major leagues with one major league appearance, pitching one inning with no decisions for the 1928 Philadelphia Athletics. He was known also as "Chief Whitehorn", or as he claimed teammate Ty Cobb called him, "Chief Coolem Off". Cobb was apparently quite interested in hearing about Indians from him during spring training.

Daney had played with a black team in 1927, and also played in a national baseball tournament in Denver. After his time with the A's, he played for Indianapolis. In 1931 he played in the Carolina League.

An anecdotal autobiography may be found here - Chief Whitehorn threw a fastball.
