Appomattox, VA

Appomattox is a town the US state of Virginia, about 20 miles east of Lynchburg, VA. As of the 2000 census, the population was 1,761. The town itself is near the restored village where Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered to Union General Ulysses S. Grant at the end of the American Civil War. Woody Williams died here.
