The son of big league manager Jerry Manuel, second baseman Anthony Manuel was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 48th round of the 2002 amateur draft but did not sign. He was then picked by the New York Mets in the 45th round of the 2005 amateur draft and played two seasons in their organization.
