Anthony F. Gubicza
- Bats Right, Throws Right
The father of Mark Gubicza, Anthony Gubicza was not as effective a pitcher as his son, going 8-23 in two minor league seasons. In 1950, he was 3-8 with a 4.40 ERA for the Madisonville Miners, walking 70 in 94 innings and hitting 11 batters, one shy of the league lead. In 1951, he was 5-7 with a 5.83 ERA for Madisonville and 0-8 with a 5.24 for the Hot Springs Bathers. A shoulder injury ended his playing career.
Gubicza was later a mail carrier for 33 years and coached Little League baseball. He died of a heart attack at age 62.
