Andy Varga, who stood 6 ' 4 " but weighed only 187 lbs., came out of Bradley University at a time when it was producing other stars such as Jim Robertson and Bill Tuttle. Varga was born in Chicago, IL, and Bradley was in Peoria, IL, not far away.
Varga came to the majors at ages 19 and 20 to pitch four innings for the Chicago Cubs. He gave up only one run in the four innings although he allowed seven walks.
One source states that no baseball card for Varga was ever issued.
