Illinois native Andy Bednar spent seven seasons in professional baseball from 1926 to 1933.

He had two short runs with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1930 and 1931. Andy appeared in five games, pitching 5 1/3 innings, with no decisions and spent the rest of his time in the minor leagues.

Andy built a 71-32 record while appearing in 139 games in the minors with his best season coming in 1932 when he went 22-4 while pitching 234 innings in 33 games for the Tulsa Oilers of the Western League. His pitching record led the league and gave him a spot on the All-Star team.

Bednar had just begun working for his uncle in the oil fields when he was killed in a one car accident 25 miles South of Graham, TX on November 26, 1937.
