David has been with the Royals' organization since 1998, serving as Royals hitting coach for parts of the 2005 and 2006 seasons. He was the Royals' Minor League Hitting Coordinator in 2009 and a coach for the AZL Royals in 2011. In 2013, he was named the Royals' assistant hitting coach.
