Founded 1969, The Anchorage Glacier Pilots were named for Bob Reeve, the "Glacier Pilot", a famous Alaskan bush pilot who was one of the true pioneers of early aviation. Reeve is a member of the International Aerospace Hall of Fame and the National Aviation Hall of Fame, as well as the Alaska Aviation Pioneer Hall of Fame and Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame.
Lefty Van Brunt currently the General Manager for the Glacier Pilots, is an Alaska baseball legend, and has been with the Pilots in some capacity for nearly the team's entire existence.
