'Alpena is a city in the US state of Michigan, in the northeast corner of the Lower Peninsula. It is about 100 miles north of Detroit, MI and about 20 miles from the Canadian border. Population as of the 2000 census was 11 304. Alpena High School is here. Blaise Ilsley, Dan Rohn and Kevin Young were born here.
