All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award
From BR Bullpen
Established in 1962, the All-Star Game MVP Award given to the game's most valuable player. Since 2002, the award has been known as the Ted Williams Award, in honor of the former Boston Red Sox great.
Ironically, the award was not given the first year under its new name, when the 2002 All-Star Game ended in a tie; commissioner Bud Selig was widely criticized for failing to honor a player for his efforts in the game as if the whole contest had been a public embarrassment to be forgotten.
