[edit] Team History
The Algodoneros de Torreon (or Torreon Cotton Dealers in English) were an early Mexican League team, playing in the 1940s and 1950s. It also played in the Mexican Center League for one season. The club was revived in the 1970s under the name Algodoneros del Unión Laguna (Union Laguna refers to the metropolitan area formed by Torreon and its twin city of Gomez Palacio). It was also known as the Diablos Blancos (White Devils) in 1980 and 1981, in reference to Mexico City's famed Red Devils. The team reverted to the Torreon name in 1993 and held it until 2002, during a particularly uncompetitive period. They became the Vaqueros de Laguna in 2003. The Algodoneros only won pennants twice, in 1942 and 1950.
