[edit] Biographical Information

Alejandro Sanchez played six seasons in the majors, getting the majority of his at-bats with the 1985 Detroit Tigers.

In 1985, Sanchez totaled 133 plate appearances and 133 at-bats, setting the single-season record for most plate appearances without a walk, hit by pitch, sacrifice fly, or sacrifice bunt. He also broke the record for most home runs in one season without a walk. In his major league career, he recorded just one non at-bat, a walk in 1986.

Sanchez was born in 1959 at San Pedro de Macoris, D.R., the same year that Ramon Romero and George Bell were born there. He was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as a free agent in 1978.

Alejandro played some games in the minors each year from 1978-88. In his best season with the bat, he hit .318 with 26 home runs for Phoenix.
