[edit] Biographical Information
Detroit born and raised, Al Cicotte was the grandnephew of Eddie Cicotte of Black Sox infamy. He was the International League Pitcher of the Year with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1960. That season he went 16-7 with a 1.79 ERA and 158 strikeouts to win the pitching Triple Crown. He also threw an 11-inning no-hitter against the Montreal Royals on September 3rd.
In 1958, he returned to his hometown team, the Detroit Tigers, where he posted a 3-1 record before being traded to the Cleveland Indians. His last name was pronounced "Sea-cott".
