The Akron Tyrites were members of the Central League in '28-'29. They left the league in '30, then the league folded. When it resumed for one year in 1932, the Tyrites again were members. The '32 team moved to Canton as the Canton Terriers.
Home of General Tire, Goodrich, Goodyear, and Firestone since 1880, Akron is known as the "Rubber Capital" of the world and the "Tire City." The "Tyrite" moniker uses the British spelling. Source: Baseball Team Names, 1869-2012. McFarland Publishing (2012).
