Adam Dowdy began his career as an umpire in the Gulf Coast League in 1995. Other stops included the Northwest League (1996), Midwest League (1997), Florida State League (1998), Eastern League (1999-2000) and Pacific Coast League (2001-2005). In 2006, he worked the World Baseball Classic, in the International League and as a vacation fill-in in the majors.
