Abe Alvarez allowed 1 run, unearned, in 1 1/3 IP in the 2002 World University Championship. He debuted in Italy on April 9, 2009, as the opening day starter for Reggio Emilia. He tossed six shutout innings against T&A San Marino but was matched by Horacio Estrada and got a no-decision.
