In 2003, the "affiliate scramble" left the Kansas City Royals with two teams in the Arizona League. The league granted an exception to the rule that prohibits more than 8 players over 20, but the team was ruled ineligible for post-season play. Pitcher John Gragg made the AZL All-Star team.

Jeff Barry led the team with 56 hits and 15 SB, Bryan Graham led with 28 RBI and a .363 BA.
