First baseman/outfielder A.J. Van Slyke, son of former All-Star Andy Van Slyke, was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 23rd round of the 2005 Amateur Draft. He has spent the last four seasons in the Cardinals chain, accumulating averages of .273/.332/.386 through 2008.
