Sean Casey was inducted into the Kinston Professional Baseball Hall of Fame during the team's Hot Stove Banquet in January. Casey was a member of the 1996 Kinston Indians.

The Indians played an exhibition game against Mount Olive College on April 7. Cleveland's number five starter, Anthony Reyes, started this game to get some extra work in before starting the season.
