The 2009 First-Year Player Draft was the forty-fifth Major League Baseball amateur draft. It was held from June 9 to June 11, 2009, the first time the draft was done over a three-day period. The Washington Nationals had the first selection. They were also the first team to ever have two top 10 selections, as a result of failing to sign their top draft pick in the previous year's draft.
