[edit] History, Comments, Contributions

The 2007 Texas Rangers set the American League record for runs in a game (30) and doubleheader (39) on August 22. The doubleheader record had been 36 runs, set by the 1937 Tigers. The single-game record of 29 had been shared by the 1950 Red Sox and 1955 White Sox. In game one, Jarrod Saltalamacchia (5 R, 7 RBI, 2 HR), Ramon Vazquez (2 HR, 7 RBI), David Murphy (5 H, 5 R), Marlon Byrd (grand slam) and Travis Metcalf (grand slam) helped pace the attack, but every Ranger scored at least once. Metcalf, just recalled from AAA, drove in eight runs on the day.

They were one of three teams in the Major Leagues to go the entire season without recording a complete game, along with Florida and Washington.
