One could argue that the 2006 Texas Rangers blew the division. Although finishing under .500, their Pythagorean was actually the best of any team in the division. Based on their offensive/defensive production, they should have won 86 games, more than either the 2006 Oakland Athletics (who had a Pythagorean of 85), or the 2006 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (who had a Pythagorean of 84).
