The 2005 Pacific Coast League season was the 102nd in the league's history, and ended with the Nashville Sounds winning their first championship since the 1982 Southern League.

Rick Short nearly hit .400, having been at .402 as late as August 19 before a late-season slide. At age 32, he was finally called up to the majors at the end of the 2005 PCL campaign and started 6 for 15 before an injury.
