The 1997 Asian Championship was held from May 23 through June 2, 1997 in Taiwan.
South Korea won Gold for the first time since 1975.
Japan took home Silver.
Chinese Taipei won Bronze. Their roster included Chin-Feng Chen, Chih-Yuan Chen, Ming-Chieh Hsu, Kan-Lin Huang and Chin-Yong Wang.
People's Republic of China finished fourth. Zhanpeng Wang was named the best left-handed pitcher of the event.
Philippines placed fifth.
Thailand took last.
