The 1994 Texas Rangers are the only team to ever finish in first place in a division race in spite of a losing record. They did not barely accomplish this feat, but were in fact 10 games below .500 when the 1994 strike interrupted their season. As a result, they did not become the first team with a losing record to play in the postseason.
