1993 European Championships

The 1993 European Championship was held from July 9 through July 18 in Stockholm. The host Swedish national team won its second Medal in European Championship history, taking Bronze.
Netherlands and
Italy won Gold and Silver, respectively. The event significantly boosted baseball participation in Sweden, which was hosting the event for the first time. The Swedish federation lost about $50,000 on the event.
The Netherlands included Bob van Aalen, Johnny Balentina, Peter Callenbach, Jeffrey Cranston, Eddy Dix, Eric de Bruin, Eric de Vries, Marlon Fluonia, Eelco Jansen, Marcl Joost, Adonis Kemp, Jurjan Koenen, Geoffrey Kohl, Marcel Kruyt, Edsel Martis, Paul Nanne and Tom Nanne.
Johan Hasselstrom of Sweden hit .517 with 10 RBI and was named the top hitter. Patrick Klerx of the Netherlands won the Best Pitcher award while Joost was named MVP.
France finished 4th, followed by
Spain and
Belgium.
Germany and
Russia rounded out the standings.
