[edit] History, Comments, Contributions

In 1993, the Chicago White Sox reached the postseason for the first time in a decade. Cy Young Award winner Jack McDowell won 22 games to anchor the best pitching staff in the league. Frank Thomas hit .317 with 41 homers to capture the Most Valuable Player award, and Bo Jackson knocked 16 homers, capping a comeback with an artificial hip. On a lesser note, catcher Carlton Fisk, a Sox mainstay for over a decade, hit only .189 and was released on June 28th. Nonetheless, the Sox won the AL West by eight games over the Texas Rangers.

In the ALCS, the White Sox lost the first two games at home. They came back to beat the Toronto Blue Jays in the next two games at the Skydome before losing the final two games of the series.
