[edit] History, Comments, Contributions
Although the 1988 Atlanta Braves were perhaps the worst team of the '80s, they also laid part of the foundation for the birth of the long Braves dynasty in 1991. John Smoltz and Tom Glavine were the most notable young players on the rebuilding-oriented team, but Ron Gant, Jeff Blauser, Pete Smith and Mark Lemke would also contribute to the early '90s Braves teams. Dale Murphy was the biggest name on the team at the time, but Gant was perhaps its best player.
