The 1984 Pacific Coast League season was the 81st in the league's history, and ended with the Edmonton Trappers winning their first league championship. The Trappers became the first club in PCL history to win a title with a losing record, and only the sixth in Triple-A history.

In Salt Lake, the Gulls were locked out of Derks Field as the year ended, and were forced to play all their postseason games in Edmonton. In the offseason, the franchise moved to Calgary.

In the championship series, rain forced the series to be shortened to a best-of-three format.
