The 1982 Atlanta Braves began the season by winning their first 13 games. Led by National League Most Valuable Player Dale Murphy, the Braves won the National League West after a close race with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants.

They were swept by the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series.
