The 1977 Rangers were managed by four different men. Frank Lucchesi was fired in midseason. His replacement, Eddie Stanky, quit after just one game. Coach Connie Ryan filled in for six games. Finally, Billy Hunter was hired. The Rangers went 60-33 under Hunter's leadership and went on to finish second in the American League West.
