1971 Asian Championship

The 1971 Asian Championship was the 9th Asian Championship. It was held in Seoul from September 9 through September 18, 1971.
South Korea went 5-2-1 to take Gold for the second time; their prior Gold was in the 1963 Asian Championship, the prior time they hosted.
Japan won Silver after claiming Gold 6 of the previous 7 Championships.
Philippines won Bronze for the second straight Championship at 4-4.
Australia expanded the competition to five teams for the first time; they went 3-4-1 to finish 4th.
Chinese Taipei finished last. Their roster included Shin-Ming Tan, who would be the first Taiwan native to pitch in the US minors.
