The 1971 top pick Danny Goodwin is the only player to be drafted first overall twice. He was selected by the Chicago White Sox but couldn't agree on a contract with the club. He became the first top pick to go unsigned. Four years later, he was picked by the California Angels in the 1975 amateur draft.
Future NFL quarterbacks Archie Manning, Steve Bartkowski and Joe Theismann were selected in the 1971 draft.
