[edit] Serie Nacional

The sixth Serie Nacional was won by Orientales, the first time in five years that a team other than Industriales won the championship. Four teams finished within three games of first place, with second-place Industriales trailing by a single game and were dropped out of the hunt on the last day of the season. In their only title, Orientales were managed by Roberto Ledo.

Occidentales' first baseman Arturo Linares was the league's first Rookie of the Year (Novatos del Año). Román Águila had a league-leading 8 - 1 win-loss record despite pitching for a 33 – 32 Centrales club. This was the last season with six teams and the last with a 65-game schedule. During the season, admission charges for games (as well as for all other sporting events held on the island) were eliminated.
