On April 23, the White Sox scored a club record 29 runs against the Kansas City Athletics. Sherm Lollar hit two homers and drove in five runs, and Bob Nieman and Walt Dropo each had seven RBI as the Sox won 29 to 6.
The Sox began September in first place, but a four game losing streak dropped the team to third.
