 History, Comments, Contributions
The 1944 Dodgers had their Spring Training in Bear Mountains, NY because travel was limited due to the War.
The infield had Howie Schultz at first, Eddie (the violin) Basinski at second, Brown at short, and Frenchy Bordagaray at third. The catcher was Clyde Sukeforth, later a coach. Pitchers included Hal Gregg, Art Herring, Curt Davis, Ed Head, and Hugh Casey (later committed suicide).
Leo Durocher was the manager.
They might not have won many games, but they were loved.
