Led by Lou Gehrig's four RBI and his home run in the 3rd inning with Joe DiMaggio on base, the American League coasted easily to a 8-3 victory. Joe Medwick had four hits in the losing cause, and Dizzy Dean broke his toe on a line drive by Earl Averill which would prove to be a turning point in his career. He returned too soon after the injury, and by favoring his bad foot, developed a sore arm.
