The 12th National High School Baseball Championship featured a total of 337 schools competing for 22 spots in the finals at Koshien. In the championship game Shizuoka Central High School (Shizuoka) defeated Tairen High School (Manchuria) by a score of 2 - 1.

The third National High School Baseball Invitational Tournament featured 16 schools competing in the tournament at Koshien. In the championship game Kouryo Central High School (Hiroshima) defeated Matsumoto High School (Nagano) by a score of 7 - 1.
