 History, Comments, Contributions
The 1902 St. Louis Browns finished second in the young American League. Charlie Hemphill, who came over to the team in June, led the team in triples, homers, batting average, and slugging percentage, and tied for the most stolen bases. Hall of Famers Jesse Burkett and Bobby Wallace were also on the team. The Browns would not finish as high as second again until 1922, and then not again until 1944.
