(Hits minus HR) divided by (AB plus SF minus HR minus K).

You could also include SH in the denominator, I suppose, depending on what you are trying to measure, but the formula above is apparently the one B-R uses.

Assuming his BABIP regresses toward .300 next season, he could be in for a strong 2011.
