October 11th…Big Day For Big Ed

Posted by Steve Lombardi on October 11, 2008

Using Play Index to find great starts for pitchers in the post-season, I noticed that the best game pitched, on this date (October 11th), probably belongs to Big Ed Walsh - with the game being Game 3 of the 1906 World Series between the White Sox and the Cubs.  (His effort was 3 baserunners over a perfect game.)

The attendance that day?  According to the boxscore, it was 13,667.  Then again, the ballpark only held 16,000.
