Evan Longoria already has 2 HR for the Rays today. Here are all the other players with 2 HR in their first post-season game (nobody as of this writing has ever had 3...):

  1. savoyspecial Says:

Subset: Longoria hit homeruns in his first 2 ABs in the postseason, joining Gaetti as the only players to do so.

  2. savoyspecial Says:

Also, Longoria is the youngest player to accomplish this feat; and the only player to be in his "1st" season (honorable mention to Chipper Jones whose 1st season consisted of 8 games in 1993).

BTW, any easy way to determine how many players have homered on the 1st postseason pitch they saw?

  3. kingturtle Says:

Walker, Glaus & Griffey did it in a losing cause. Three is a surprising amount!

Random coincidences: Kluszewski did it as a White Sock. Griffey is playing in Longoria's game.

  4. kingturtle Says:

looks like Longoria is the first two get 2 HRs and a SB in his first post season game.

  5. Two more facts. Longoria is the third youngest in postseason history with a 2 HR game. Longoria is the second youngest in postseason history with a game with 1 HR and 1 SB.
